Recording setupMy current recording setup , on which we did the tracks in the download area, consists of a Macbook , running logic pro , which is easy to use simply , but I believe if you really get into it you can do loads of cool stuff A Presonus Firepod with eight inputs and a couple of shure mics ,it seems to work Ok , but I would love to get some tips from a pro logic user sometime. Live setupMy current live setup , is , a pair of martin audio w3p speakers , Driven by a qsc amp, and mixed by a midas venice 160, I also have in the rack an alesis quadraverb , a yamaha spx990, and a dbx compressor, I use a shure beta87c mic , and a solid acoustic guitar made by Chris Larkin (Chrislarkinguitars.com). My ASAP Solid Steel with MIDI made by Chris Larkin
In some venues the sound is great , others prove very difficult depending on size and other factors like ceiling height and floor covering, its true I could use a dynacord powermate or something like it , instead of the larger heavier rack system but having tried one out , I found that the vocal mic sound was almost identical in both systems , but the difference in the sound of the guitar between the two systems was too much , so I stuck with the midas. The Blue room technical forum, which is a UK based forum dealing with all things musical , theatrical ,etc has an excellent sound section where you will find many experienced engineers discussing sound matters, and they have proved extremely helpful to me in solving problems , and selecting the right gear. |
